6 Tips to maximise your laptop battery life:-

Keep your battery cool - the hotter your battery the quicker it loses it's charge capacity.
Avoid draining your laptop battery completely - today's batteries perform best when they're recharged while they still have 10-20% capacity.
Charge your battery to its full capacity 1st time and every time - new batteries almost always arrive completely discharged.
If you don't need the battery don't use it. The capacity of a laptop battery decreases with each cycle of charging and discharging. Even if your laptop is plugged into the wall, the battery is still going through a constant charge-discharge cycle. If you are going to be working in a location near an electrical outlet, remove the battery and store it in a cool location.
Batteries don't like being stored for long periods - while its nice to have a spare, laptop batteries will lose a small bit of their charge, so assess your battery needs and keep yourself supplied accordingly.
Don't charge your notebook battery prior to long periods of inactivity - be sure to store them with 10-20% capacity remaining, this will keep it performing at a high rate once the spare battery is put back into action.
